This page is to enable holiday makers and people living on the island a chance to share useful information and to get help with any difficulties they are experiencing. Please email us with your tips and we can add them.
Shopping tips
If you are making a purchase with a credit card in the island you will also need to show your passport.
If you come on holiday bring teabags, not all shops sell them and they are more expensive here.
Shopping in Rosario seems to be less expensive than in the outlying towns.
Bottled water is heavy, on some complexes it can be delivered, it's a good idea to check with neighbours if they have theirs delivered.
General tips
The Solbank branch in the Atlantico shopping centre at Caleta has extremely helpful staff.
When driving in Fuerteventura it is important to remember that people crossing the road will expect you to stop for them even as they approach the crossing! Beware!
When phoning home - dont use the phone boxes, there are phone shops that are cheaper. The shops are easy to spot in the main towns.
New building construction caused this wall to collapse into someones garden up Chipmunk Mountain. An unfortunate accident, but if this happens call 112, the local police will sort things out.
Travel tips
The bus services on Fuerteventura are excellent. You can get a 20% discount by buying a travel card. In Puerto del Rosario, these can be obtained from the kiosk by the bus station.
There are less buses on a Sunday, so you can expect them to be fuller.
If you visit Corralejo by bus it is better to go to the bus stop at the harbour. This is especially true on Sundays, as there are less buses. The 4pm bus can be particularly busy. The published times seem to be from the bus station, so go earlier (10 mins?) to the port.
The north bound and south bound bus stops in Costa Calma are in different places.
