The FIFA world Cup has certainly caused a stir on Fuerteventura, with most of the sports bars getting in more televisions so that more people can watch the games. The Cocosol bar, in Nuevo Horizonte got in a projector so that the games are shown on the whole wall!
Graham, England's number one fan, gets into the spirit of the game. With a nifty bit of face painting and a new England hat. Along with those celebrations, you can also see a nifty bit of cross-dressing. English women are wearing Spanish shirts and Mike, the manager of Mustang Sally's, can be seen suporting Holland!! Here there are a lot more games to be interested in as there are people from all nationalities mixing together.

Down in Morro Jable, in the sector of the island which welcomes mostly German tourists, we spotted this little Dutch bar along the main street. The hostess was enjoying the World Cup fever. We watched the England v Trinidad and Tobago game in Morro Jable and the England supporters on holiday there had also got into the spirit of the event.

To say the least, that England game was a bit of a struggle, playing against those big lads from the likes of Gillingham! When we finally scored there was relief all round, hopefully we will shape better against the better teams, with England going on to win the World Cup!!
Anyway, the bars, shops and market stalls selling football paraphenalia are doing a roaring trade, and as someone from the island will be a supporter of whichever team wins the fun should go on for quite a while yet!
