Loli and Manolo would like to welcome you to the Artenara restaurant in Costa Antigua, formerly Nuevo Horizonte.

The couple come from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Loli has been a chef most of her life, and worked in Puerto del Rosario for several years. The Artenara restaurant is named after a village in Gran Canaria.

Typical Canarian Food

Although the menu has a wide range of dishes, the restaurant's speciality is Traditional Canarian Food. This means plenty of fresh seafood, Canarian stews and Canarian potatoes. The fish we had last time we were there was freshly caught that morning by a local fisherman. Other items on the menu include omelettes, salads, pastas and a range of vegetarian meals.

They also have a fabulous selection of traditional desserts, or postres as they are called in the Canaries. We had one with coconut, Tarta de Abuela, it was fabulous. Though the menu is Tipico Canario, it is also available in English.

Daily Special

The Menu del Dia consists of three courses, starter, main course, postre, and a drink of wine, beer, tea or coffee, and is a bargain at only �8 euro

Drinks

The bar sells a range of wines, as well as beers and to finish your meal you should try their Canarian speciality, a banana liquer.

For Children

The restaurant has a special menu for children, with a range of their favourites, from �3-3.50 and has high chairs available for younger ones.

Breakfasts

In a typical Canarian tradition of friendship and hospitality, English breakfast is served from 8am until 1pm.

Take away

If you would like to impress your friends by serving them a typical home cooked Canarian meal, Loli and Manolo would be happy to serve you any of their meals to take away with you.

On a holiday in Fuerteventura, one should always try the local specialities, and in this restaurant you will certainly be able to enjoy the best of Canarian food. Remember to try it early in your holiday as you will certainly want to return again.

Why not call in to this very friendly traditional Canarian bar for a pre dinner drink. There is a pool table in an area to the rear of the restaurant. There will probably be typical Canarian music playing softly in the background to complete the Canarian flavour.
